Step by step

5 of 5 steps are checked against official docs. Menu names are quoted from the linked docs as of the date shown; apps change, so follow the doc if what you see differs.

  1. Create a batch

In Photoroom's web app, import the images, or use Import folder to bring in a folder and its sub-folders. Backgrounds may be removed automatically, depending on a Background setting.

  2. Edit the batch

Select some or all images and apply templates, backgrounds, resizing and AI shadows in the Batch Editor.

  3. Download as a ZIP

Photoroom exports batch images as a zip file.

  4. Check Etsy's image rules

Etsy accepts .jpg, .gif, .png, .svg and .heic. Transparent PNGs aren't supported and transparent areas show as black, so export with a background.

  5. Upload to Shopify

Add images to product pages as product media. Shopify warns to put files in Content > Files only if they're meant to be public.

Common mistakes

  • Delivering transparent PNGs for Etsy.
  • AI scenes that misrepresent size, color or texture. Buyers return those.
  • Inconsistent crops across a catalog.

FAQ

Why do my Etsy photos have black backgrounds?

Etsy doesn't support transparency; transparent areas appear black (Etsy Help, read 20 Oct 2026). Export with a solid background.
