Free plan in real output

The pricing page we read is API pricing: a $10 free API credit, then pay per 1,000 characters. Studio (web app) plan prices weren't on the page we captured.

  • Falcon at $0.01 per 1,000 characters: a 10,000-word script (about 60,000 characters) costs about $0.60 in API usage.
  • For non-developers, check the Studio plans in the app; we didn't capture them.

Cost at your stage

PlanMonthly cost
Month 1 (testing, low volume)API pay as you go$0
Month 12 (working volume)API pay as you go$0

Break-even: API usage at cents per script is covered by any paid voiceover job.

Month-12 plan is our estimate of what a solo seller at steady weekly output needs, based on the plan limits above. Costs exclude tax.

Commercial use and output rights

Ownership with conditions

“You can use Murf created voices for commercial purposes… You however agree that Commercial Rights… are not resell rights.”

Your data and AI training: Not checked.

This is a summary of public terms, not legal advice. Terms change; re-read the clause before client work.

Hidden costs and gotchas

  • Studio plan pricing wasn't on the page we read.
  • Commercial rights exclude reselling the voices themselves.

First-hour setup

  1. Sign up and claim the API trial credit (or open Studio).
  2. Paste a short script and pick a voice.
  3. Adjust pace and emphasis.
  4. Export or call the API.
  5. Compare against ElevenLabs on the same script.

Head to head: ElevenLabs vs Murf

Learning difficulty

1/5: Timeline editor is simple; syncing to slides takes a little practice.

When not to use it

For voice cloning and the widest voice library, ElevenLabs is the stronger option.

Cheaper or free alternatives:

  • ElevenLabs: Narration for videos, audiobooks and courses in many languages (yes free plan)
  • WellSaid: Brand-safe narration for corporate content (trial only free plan)
  • Speechify: Listening to documents; quick voiceovers (yes free plan)
