Free plan in real output

No monthly fee. Gumroad takes a percentage of each sale, and since 1 January 2025 it acts as merchant of record, handling sales tax.

  • A $15 template sold through your link: fee = $1.50 + $0.50 = $2.00, so you keep $13.00 (86.7%).
  • The same sale through Discover: fee = 30% = $4.50, so you keep $10.50.

Cost at your stage

PlanMonthly cost
Month 1 (testing, low volume)Pay per sale$0
Month 12 (working volume)Pay per sale$0

Break-even: No fixed cost, so every sale is profitable. At about $200/month in sales, compare against Payhip or Lemon Squeezy fees.

Month-12 plan is our estimate of what a solo seller at steady weekly output needs, based on the plan limits above. Costs exclude tax.

Commercial use and output rights

Not a content generator. A sales platform; you keep the rights to your products.

Your data and AI training: Not applicable.

This is a summary of public terms, not legal advice. Terms change; re-read the clause before client work.

Hidden costs and gotchas

  • The $0.50 fixed fee hits cheap products hard: on a $3 sale it's 26.7% in total.
  • Discover marketplace sales cost 30%.
  • Payout methods and timing vary by country (pricing FAQ).

First-hour setup

  1. Create an account and connect payouts.
  2. Create a product, upload the file and set a price.
  3. Write a clear description with screenshots.
  4. Test-buy with a 100% discount code.
  5. Share the direct link (10% fee) rather than relying on Discover (30%).
