Free plan in real output

Free includes 100 conversations. For voice, 3 minutes counts as 1 conversation. The page offers annual billing at 20% off.

  • Free: 100 conversations is enough to build and demo a bot to a client, not to run it for a busy shop.
  • Plus: 250 conversations a month; beyond that, $0.65 per conversation in packs of 100.

Cost at your stage

PlanMonthly cost
Month 1 (testing, low volume)Free$0
Month 12 (working volume)Plus$150

Break-even: Plus at $150/mo needs to be priced into the client's monthly retainer (e.g., a $300/mo support-bot retainer).

Month-12 plan is our estimate of what a solo seller at steady weekly output needs, based on the plan limits above. Costs exclude tax.

Commercial use and output rights

Not a content generator. A bot builder; your bot content stays yours.

Your data and AI training: Not checked.

This is a summary of public terms, not legal advice. Terms change; re-read the clause before client work.

Hidden costs and gotchas

  • Conversation overages are sold in packs of 100.
  • Pausing conversations pauses the product entirely; Botpress warns at 75% and 100% of your limit.

First-hour setup

  1. Create a bot from a template.
  2. Add the shop's FAQ and policies as a knowledge base.
  3. Test 20 real customer questions.
  4. Add a hand-off to a human.
  5. Embed on the site and watch the first week of chats.

Learning difficulty

3/5: Visual studio plus logic and integrations.

When not to use it

For a simple FAQ widget, a help-desk's built-in bot may be enough.

Cheaper or free alternatives:

  • Voiceflow: Teams designing conversational agents (yes free plan)
  • Chatbase: A website support bot in an afternoon (yes free plan)
  • Tidio: Small e-commerce support (yes free plan)
  • Intercom: AI-first support (trial only free plan)
